Office of Extended Professional Education

Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. Through this accreditation, MSM supports the ongoing professional development of healthcare providers and promotes lifelong learning and continuous improvement in clinical practice.

The Office of Extended Professional Education (OEPE) collaborates with faculty, clinical departments, community physicians, and healthcare educators to assess educational needs and develop high-quality continuing education programs that address emerging trends in healthcare, clinical practice, and population health. The office works closely with institutional and community partners to design educational activities that support professional competency, improve patient outcomes, and advance health equity.

OEPE offers a wide range of educational activities delivered through multiple formats, including seminars, workshops, short courses, conferences, and online learning platforms. Programs are available locally, nationally, and internationally, providing flexible access for healthcare professionals across practice settings. In addition, MSM clinical departments sponsor Regularly Scheduled Series (RSS), including grand rounds and case conferences, which provide ongoing educational opportunities for clinical faculty and trainees.

The primary audience for OEPE programming includes MSM faculty, community physicians, residents, nurses, allied health professionals, and other members of the healthcare workforce. The office also extends its reach by collaborating with external organizations and institutions, including those without CME accreditation, to jointly provide educational activities that meet professional development needs.

The Office of Extended Professional Education provides comprehensive support for both accredited and non-accredited educational activities, including program planning, accreditation management, and full-service meeting coordination. Through these efforts, OEPE ensures that all activities meet established standards for quality, relevance, and educational effectiveness.
